Lumen prints are made using photosensitive paper, but without chemicals, cameras, or enlargers; they are simply printed with the light. Lumens are made by placing translucent objects on photosensitive paper and exposing them to light, creating a contact print of the object.  After a few hours or days of exposure the image will form a soft, ghost-like impression on the paper. This trace is all that remains. Instead of the traditional method of fixing with chemicals I scan the image at a high resolution then process and enhance it digitally. This marriage of old and new technology enables me to satisfy my love of the past while still creating work that is contemporary.
